These pages describe a long walk around Old Hunstanton and Hunstanton. Various parts of the walk pass close to one another, so that you may pick a shorter route if time or energy is limited. The entire route used to be passable on a bicycle, but cycling has now been banned on the sea defences, so along the South Beach you have to cycle on the sand (low tide only!) or the road behind the Pleasure Beach. There are a couple of places which are not passable in vehicles, most notably the shoreline section, and parking is not easy except at the main town car-parks. The route has three main starting-points.
The most accessible is the Cliff car-park at the North end of town. This is a stopping-point for the Coastliner bus.
Alternatively, you could start from the Southend Road car-park at the South end of town, opposite the new Tesco supermarket.
Finally, if you are arriving by bus, start from the bus station in the middle of the town. Most of the photographs will open a high-resolution version in a different browser window if you click on them. Leave the mouse cursor over a picture to see if it has an expanded version. Be warned that some of these images are very large and may take a long time to load over a slow connection. All the photographs on these pages are Copyright (C) ECSEL 2000-2007. Please don't steal them! This is an early version of the site and has not been publicised to web search engines. I hope it is useful in its present state but I am adding more details and more photographs. There are several 'place holders' for missing photographs and a fair number that I will replace as I get the chance. |
