Location of Hunstanton

Hunstanton is at the top left-hand corner of Norfolk, where the Wash edges round into the North Sea. It is the only west-facing resort on the east coast of England.

Hunstanton had a rail link from 1862 but it was closed in 1969. Visitors by rail come to King's Lynn, then take the coast bus to the town centre.

By road from London take the M11 to Cambridge, then the A10 via Ely to Kings Lynn. Then take the A149 to Hunstanton. Park in the cliff-top car park at the North end. Cambridge, Ely and Kings Lynn are also well worth investigating. Most other routes (except from East Norfolk) are variations on this one.

Street map of Hunstanton

This map shows the location of the cliff-top car-park. There is another near the sea-life centre but you may find that it has a market on it (Wednesdays and Sundays). It also tends to get quite crowded. But it is handier for the centre if you don't want to walk. The centre of the town is the Green, and most shops are around the high street which runs from the back of the Green. North from there is a mainly residential area with old carrstone houses, hotels and guest-hoses. South takes you to the vistor attractions, the Oasis leisure centre, the Sea Life Centre and the fun fair.
