People actively involved in celebrating their connections with the town, preserving its heritage and helping to plan the future.
Civic societies have a formal role as community watchdogs commenting on planning applications for new buildings and develoments and guarding against unsympathetic changes to conservation areas, historic buildings and the local environment.
The Society is represented on the
Borough Council’s
Conservation Areas Advisory Panel.
An example of our input via CAAP and regular meetings with council officers
is the adoption of the new green and gold colour scheme of
Hunstanton’s street furniture.
The Society is an active member of the Hunstanton Regeneration Partnership
The Society regularly works with King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council and is involved with Hunstanton’s Conservation Area Review that will be passed to public consultation. It is concerned with recommending appropriate changes and identifying elements that should be afforded special protection in the interests of preserving Hunstanton's Heritage in perpetuity.
The Hunstanton Civic Society is affiliated to
the Civic Trust
and our aims are based on theirs.
We hope to fulfill their ideals at a local level.
We aim to ensure that residents and visitors alike are
able to enjoy Hunstanton and the surrounding villages
and countryside.
Although essentially a local amenity society, membership is open to all who will help us achieve our aims and objectives, whatever their place of residence. The society relies on members’ fees and voluntary participation for its success All individual talents, life skills, knowledge and experience are our strength. Anyone with an interest in the future of Hunstanton can join us. Click the "Membership" link for details.
